Courtney is a certified teacher with a background in international environmental education and curriculum integration. Her trip to India in 2010 left a lasting impression and drive to improve the lives of children around the world. Yirleny Valverde Mora, Center Director of Forjando Alas
An Uvita native, Yirleny is one of eight siblings to grow up on a farm in Llano Bonito. She has cared for many children over the years and has a passion for improving the lives of children in Uvita.
Alexia Mesen, Educator & Caregiver at Forjando Alas
Alexia has 15 years of experience working with children. In 2015 she volunteered in Nicaragua with the organization, Raleigh ICS. She worked with children in English classes, French classes, and tutoring. She is loves working with children because they are joyful, passionate and loving. “Children are our future and also our present and it makes me happy to know that I can help improve their lives for the future.”
Alison Ugarte Ramirez, Student Volunteer at Forjando Alas
Alison began as a student at Forjando Alas and now continues to assist with the younger kids as a student volunteer.
